Championship Saturday featured teams from across Western Oregon at the 6A, 5A and 4A levels. Since the OSAA moved to six classes, no team from the Eugene/Springfield area has won the 6A state title. The Sheldon Irish were looking to break that trendwith a win against West Linn.
In 5A boys, Churchill and Jefferson met up for a rematch of last year’s title game at Matthew Knight Arena. The Lancers were looking to avenge a loss from a year ago against a shorthanded Democrats team.
In 5A girls, Willamette was going for the repeat of last year’s state title, but the Wolverines had to get through Corvallis.
Plus, the Philomath boys and Sutherlin girls were in search of the 4A state titles at Gill Coliseum.
